The Big Air Wave Tower Review

Wakeboard tower company Wake Essentials offers a variety of affordable, high-quality wake towers, but the Big Air Wave Tower is by far the best model that they offer.  The new, high-tech design has been in the works for a while, but just looking at it, it’s easy to tell that they really took their time to get it right.

The Big Air Wave Tower comes standard with wakeboard racks to hold 4 wakeboards, saving consumers the time and hassle of having to buy and install racks separately.  Of course, buyers have the option of replacing any number of wakeboard rack spaces to hold knee boards instead.  With universal mounts and the ability to be installed on any boat between 70” and 103” in width, it’s a great choice for almost any boat owner wishing to take his or her lake time to a whole new level of excitement.

The tower is constructed of 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum tubing, so it’s both light and sturdy.  The forward braces feature an extremely thick, and mean looking (in a good way) design that definitely sets it apart aesthetically from any other wake tower on the market.  The Wave Tower can also quickly and easily be folded to below windshield height for easy storage.

Because of the aircraft grade aluminum materials, new anti-flex extrusions, and large diameter tubing, the Wave tower mounts securely and operates reliably enough to avoid rattling and moaning sounds when in use.

Installation options are versatile as it can be mounted on the side or top of the gunnels, and initial installation can be done yourself in about 2-3 hours.  Most biminis will also fit the Big Air Wave Tower, but Big Air sells biminis that will definitely fit it if you happen to have a third party bimini that won’t.  The best part?  The Big Air Wave Tower only runs about $1,400, which is around $500-$1,000 less than other brands (like Monster or Barewest) of comparable wake towers.  This translates into a cost-effective, high-quality adrenaline rush for any level of wake jockey from beginner to advanced.
Why: High-quality, great aesthetics, great bang for the buck

Six Items You Must Bring on the Boat this Summer

Summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to dust off the boat and take it out on the water. Boating is one of the most refreshing and fun activities that you can do in the summer, but there are some key items that you should bring with you during your outings to maximize your enjoyment.

Water Sport Gear

There are many kinds of water sports that can be enjoyed with a boat. Inner tubes, wakeboards,
kneeboards, water skis, and wake skates are all great water sports to partake in when you’re out on the water. People of all ages are sure to find at least one water sport that they’d like to try while boating – we love wakeboarding, knee boarding, skiing and tubing!

Wake Towers

Wake towers are designed to tow a wake boarder, but can also be used in skiing and knee boarding as they have more of an upward pull than a regular pylon or factory rope attachment.  This provides the rider an easier opportunity to initially get up on the water, and also provide the needed opportunity for a wake boarder to “get air.”  Many wake towers also feature optional racks to store skis, boards, and kneeboards out of the way of occupants.

Wake Tower Speakers

Wakeboarding is a lot of fun, but it’s even better with loud music blaring over the rush of the wind and waves. Wakeboard tower speakers are mounted on the wake tower and are directed towards the wake boarder to allow him or her to hear their favorite music while wakeboarding. Wake tower speakers can be as simple as two small speaker attachments or a custom bar fitted with several larger speakers depending on your preferences.

Fishing Equipment

You may be the kind of person who goes out on their boat to just lay back, relax and enjoy the gentle lull of the water. One of the most relaxing activities to do on the water is fishing. Whether you’re a veteran fisher or a first-timer, anyone can pick up some basic fishing equipment and enjoy the fun of catching some fish…or at least trying. Even if you don’t catch anything, simply enjoying some quality alone time or time with your family is enough to make any day out on the boat a good one.

Refreshments

While there may be marina restaurants and stores on the water, they are notorious for price gouging
their patrons, whether it’s on gas or refreshments. The best thing to do is pack your own refreshments if you intend on staying out for a day, or even a few hours. Bring a cooler filled with various snacks and beverages, preferably simple snacks that don’t perish easily or need to be heated up. It’s easy to get dehydrated when out in the sun for hours in the summertime, and alcoholic beverages just intensify the effect, so a healthy supply of water is never a bad idea.

wake towersMusic

The gentle sound of the water on the boat is wonderful, but many people want some music to break up the silence. Most boats have some device for playing music such as a radio, CD player, or MP3 player. If you’re more into a relaxing scene, select some relaxing and slow songs for your trip. If you’re looking for a lot of fun and adventure, try some fast party songs. If you want to create a romantic moment for you and your significant other, select some romantic music that both of you can enjoy. There is music for every occasion and mood. Select your favorites to make your boating trip even more enjoyable.
